The Prime Minister welcomed major investment announcements, including AMD’s £2 billion investment, Nebius’s £1.7 billion investment, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s £12 million SME AI Support Package.

His message was :

“This is Europe’s decisive decade for technology, and the United Kingdom will lead it.”

The address by Aravind Srinivas, Co-Founder and CEO of Perplexity, was widely regarded as one of the most discussed and thought-provoking presentations of the day.

Aravind Srinivas is an alumnus of IIT Madras.

Darren Hardman, CEO, Microsoft UK & Ireland: “We Will Make the UK the Global Capital of AI”

Darren Hardman delivered a presentation titled:

“Shaping the Future of Work and Opportunity in the UK.”

He introduced the concept of “Frontier Firms”—organizations that are rapidly embracing AI and are already transforming the way work is performed.

His central message was:

“AI is not merely a productivity tool; it is the engine of economic growth.”

He stated that Microsoft’s commitment to positioning Britain at the forefront of global AI leadership remains unwavering.

Hardman emphasized that the nation that leads in AI adoption will emerge as the economic superpower of the 21st century.

George Osborne, Managing Director and Head of OpenAI for Countries: “AI Must Be Built on Democratic Values”

George Osborne stressed the importance of ensuring that:

“AI must be built on democratic values.”

He stated:

“We are working to ensure that global AI systems are built on democratic values.”

Through this initiative, OpenAI has already engaged with more than 50 countries worldwide.

Osborne further noted that AI is no longer merely a technology; it has become critical infrastructure. The decisions made today regarding its development, governance, and deployment will influence both global economics and geopolitics for years to come.

Kanishk Narayan, UK AI Minister: “Spread the Benefits of AI to Every Corner of the Country”

Kanishk Narayan, Minister for AI and Online Safety at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, outlined Britain’s AI strategy and the government’s vision for the future in clear terms.

Issuing a direct challenge to British technology startups, he said:

“I am setting Britain’s AI leaders a challenge—support startups, spread opportunities to every corner of the country, and have the courage to take risks. This is how we will use AI to serve hardworking people, our economy, and British values.”

He further emphasized that future growth cannot be designed solely for elites.

Unlike previous waves of technological transformation, AI possesses far broader potential. Its opportunities and benefits can—and should—be extended to every region and community across the country.

Kanishka Narayan originally comes from Bihar, India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “AI for All,” articulated at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 and founded on the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” with a strong human-centric approach to AI, was reaffirmed and highlighted on the global stage at London Tech Week.
