AI cameras and predictive algorithms will be used in Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028 to ensure the safety of millions of devotees and prevent stampedes.
Through Physical AI, Artificial Intelligence, and the technical contributions of non-resident Indians (NRIs) from Madhya Pradesh, momentum will also be given to Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s ‘State AI Mission’ and the resolve to make the state the country’s first ‘Green AI Capital’.
Preparations have begun to make ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh’, to be organized in 2028 in India’s spiritual city of Ujjain, a global model of cutting-edge technology, security, and convenience. The roadmap for Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav’s ‘State AI Mission’ and ‘Green AI Capital’ vision is being prepared. In this mega-campaign, the diaspora of Madhya Pradesh spread across the world has come forward to repay the debt to their motherland and offer their technical contributions to the state’s development completely free of cost. They are coming forward to collaborate in Artificial Intelligence, Physical AI, drones, fintech, and other sectors.
With the presence of millions of devotees, a vast geographical area, round-the-clock activities, and requirements across security, health, sanitation, and traffic management, solutions are likely to be addressed through autonomous machines and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In Simhastha 2028, autonomous technologies can be utilized for tasks such as crowd management and surveillance, disaster and emergency response, medical assistance, sanitation and waste management, security monitoring, water and environmental monitoring, traffic management, information and pilgrim assistance, as well as logistics and material distribution.
Through this model of Physical AI, strain gauges (a type of load sensor) installed along major barricade lines at the ghats and the roads leading to them will provide command centers with insights that no camera can offer – specifically, the actual physical pressure of the crowd measured continuously across all points along the line.
Using this technology will offer millions of devotees a safe, well-organized, clean, and enhanced experience, while assisting the administration in real-time decision-making.
Smart Crowd & Traffic Management: To prevent untoward incidents like stampedes amid crowds of millions, AI-equipped cameras should be installed at highly sensitive locations. These cameras will predict crowd density in advance using ‘predictive algorithms’, giving real-time alerts to the administration so the crowd can be managed in a timely manner.
Awadhesh Singh Chauhan, a Physical AI Architect from Madhya Pradesh working in London, states that if the state government utilizes Physical AI in ‘Simhastha Mahakumbh’, he is ready to contribute to this campaign.
A network of over 12,000 alumni of MANIT will function as a volunteer grid, which can help digitally guide all visitors and devotees arriving during Ujjain Simhastha 2028. This was stated by Saurabh Jain, Executive Body Member of the GMAA ( Global Alumni Association ) of MANIT, Bhopal and Volunteer of FOMP (Friends of MP)
During Simhastha, as soon as a listed criminal moves within the Ujjain area – whose list is already available with the police the movement of the criminal will be monitored live using Artificial Intelligence. Through Artificial Intelligence (AI), face recognition will measure the facial features of the criminal individual to identify them, after which the police will arrest them. This will help curb crime.
If any family member gets lost in the fair, presenting their photograph will allow identification through face recognition using Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will work to reunite those who have been separated.
