Bhopal : Monday, April 27, 2026: The administrative landscape of Madhya Pradesh is rapidly transforming—women’s participation at the decision-making table is no longer symbolic, but has become a real force of change. Around 100 women IAS officers and 15 women IPS officers are currently serving in key positions across the state, balancing governance, security, and sensitivity.
From District Collectors to the level of Additional Chief Secretary, and from law and order to the implementation of welfare schemes, these women are not only leading from the front but also redefining a sensitive, accountable, and result-oriented administration.
Madhya Pradesh is witnessing a rapid rise in women leadership within its administrative and security framework. At present, nearly 100 women IAS officers and 15 prominent women IPS officers are serving in various capacities, many of whom are also on central deputation.
Strong Presence in IAS Cadre:
During the tenure of the current Mohan Yadav government, the state has a total of 97 women IAS officers, including 64 Regular Recruits (RR) and 33 promoted from the State Civil Service (SCS). Of these, 80 officers are posted within Madhya Pradesh, while 18 are serving on deputation with the Government of India.
The senior-most among them is Smt. Alka Upadhyaya (RR-1990 batch), while the youngest is Ms. Navkiran Kaur (RR-2024 batch). The administrative strength is further reflected in the fact that 7 women officers are serving at the level of ACS and Principal Secretary, and 17 women are currently posted as District Collectors. Additionally, Smt. Surabhi Gupta is serving as the Divisional Commissioner of Shahdol Division.
Several experienced and emerging women officers are playing crucial roles in the state’s administrative system. Prominent names include Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, and Smt. Rashmi Arun Shami, who are leading key departments in both the Government of India and the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
From senior officers like Smt. Dipali Rastogi to younger faces such as Smt. Srushti Deshmukh Gowda and Ms. Tapasya Parihar, this diverse group continues to shape the governance and security framework of Madhya Pradesh.

Bhavya Mittal and Neha Meena are two Collectors who have been honored with the Government of India’s prestigious Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence.
Rising Participation in IPS:
Women officers are also strengthening their presence in the police system of Madhya Pradesh. Prominent women IPS officers include Pragya Richa Srivastava, Sonali Mishra, Meenakshi Sharma, Dipika Suri, Chaitra N, Ruchika Jain, Krishnaveni Desavatu, Monika Shukla, Savita Sohane, Kiran Lata Kerketta, Shraddha Tiwari, Priyanka Mishra, Rasna Thakur, Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia, and Vahni Singh.
Among them, Pragya Richa Srivastava and Sonali Mishra have achieved the prestigious rank of Director General (DG).
