India’s indigenous Mobile Seva App Store (M-Seva) Draws Huge Response

Bhopal : Saturday, April 16, 2023 . Achieving a technological milestone, Government of India’s indigenous Mobile Seva App Store (M-Seva) is now available for citizens as an alternative to Google Play AppStore. This App Store has been specially created by C-DAC Mumbai, a part of the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology .

It is India’s alternative to Google and Apple website store. This is India’s first indigenous website store. There are around 1200 live hosted apps on this app store from multiple domains and search from public services.

M-Seva can be downloaded from the official website of App Store https://apps.mgov.gov.in. So far, 9.1 crore downloads of the M-Seva app have been done.

According to Dr Padmaja Joshi Senior Director Centre for Development of Advanced Computing,C-DAC, Mumbai, these app stores comply with all security and data related laws. Any citizen, government, private organization in India can register as a developer and upload their app for free. The feature of testing has also been given before publishing the app on this application store.

C-DAC is also conducting state dedicated workshops to interact with budding startups for the National App Store and Single Sign-On, a project of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology developed under the Atma nirbhar Bharat Mission, he added. In this series, orientation workshops are going to be organized in Indore on 20 April 2023.

M Services App Store (apps.mgov.gov.in) is available for hosting Citizen Shopping Mobile. This is a novel initiative aimed at mainstreaming the mobile app industry in the country and India’s data will also be safe.

As part of outreach activities mSeva has launched a National Level Innovative App Competition. Entries are invited under 5 categories. Details are available at https://apps.mgov.gov.in/AppContest/.

According to Padmaja Joshi the App Store is available for government and public services. mServices is based on service-oriented architecture and cloud-based technologies, service of government department, private developer mobile app to provide government and other public services related to health, education, agriculture, financial, online payment, election related user website from mobile The service can be downloaded from the App Store.

According to Senior Director, C-DAC, the mobile service has been launched by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and provides mobile services through various channels such as SMS for all government access and status in the country at central, state and local levels. . C-DAC is a central cloud-based mobile affiliate partnership to provide its services through IVRS, USSD, Mobile App and App Store to enable rapid introduction of services offering through mobile devices anywhere in India.
