SARMAN NAGELE – London
Madhya Pradesh possesses some extraordinary stories to attract the United Kingdom and countries across the globe, with spirituality and wildlife being the most prominent among them. The sacred heart of India, spiritual MP, and the Simhastha Mahakumbh represent one of the deepest spiritual landscapes in the world. Madhya Pradesh is home to two of India’s 12 sacred Jyotirlingas-Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain and Omkareshwar on the Narmada river-alongside Maheshwar and perennial riverbank towns like Amarkantak, Chitrakoot, and Orchha.
Above all, Ujjain hosts the Simhastha Mahakumbh, one of the largest mega-festivals and congregations of humanity on Earth. Organized once every 12 years, it is scheduled to take place in 2028. Preparations are underway on a massive scale under the continuous supervision of Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister of MP. The Ujjain district administration and related departments are actively engaged in the management of the Simhastha Mahakumbh.

‘Friends of Madhya Pradesh’ (FoMP) UK & Europe, an organization that has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the MPTourism Board, has proposed organizing a festival in London on November 1st to mark Madhya Pradesh’s Foundation Day. The group has also called for improvements in air connectivity between the UK and MP, alongside extending an invitation to every British family to visit the forests that inspired Rudyard Kipling. Furthermore, FoMP is actively inviting the public to visit the temples of Ujjain and participate in the Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028.
Every child in Britain knows Mowgli, but very few know that he is originally from MP. The wolf-boy of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book was born in the Sal forests of Seoni and Pench, located right in the heart of India. FoMP UK & Europe believes it is time for British travelers to visit the very place where this story truly began.
Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister Govt of MP, stated: “MP is quite literally the wildlife heart of India. Known as the ‘Tiger State’, it is home to the country’s largest tiger population. It also boasts the highest number of leopards in India, and Kuno National Park stands as the sole home for cheetahs in the entire country. Its famous national parks—Pench, Kanha, Bandhavgarh, and Satpura—are among the world’s finest destinations for spotting big cats in their natural habitat. Kipling conceived The Jungle Book in the forests of Seoni and Pench. Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, and Shere Khan are not mere fiction; they belong to MP.”

Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural tapestry isn’t just found in its ancient monuments. It lives on through its music, craftsmanship and culinary traditions.

Rohit Dixit, Founder of FoMP UK & Europe, remarked that for FoMP, the goal is to promote “Spiritual MP” not just among the Indian diaspora, but also among the broader British citizenry who hold an interest in yoga, meditation, wellness, and pilgrimage. FoMP is committed to taking the invitation of spiritual MPto local UK audiences as well as non-resident Indians.
“Every British family already loves MP-they know Mowgli, but they do not know that his jungle is real and waiting for them in Pench. They practice yoga, but they have never stood before Mahakal in Ujjain. FoMP’s role is to bridge that gap and transform this introduction into an airline ticket.”
According to India’s Ministry of Tourism, 1.02 million (10.2 lakh) people from the UK visited India last year, accounting for a 10.28% share of total foreign tourists.
Demands have been raised for the MP Tourism Board to offer special discounts on wildlife tours and hotel stays in the state for the UK and European diaspora, as well as their friends and families.
he MP Tourism Board and the state government have been urged to set up a dedicated help desk in the UK to inform people about tourism destinations, wildlife, spirituality, and the Simhastha Mahakumbh.
The World Travel Market (WTM) is scheduled to be held from November 3 to 5, 2026, at ExCeL London. WTM brings the entire world onto a single platform, uniting British and international tourism stakeholders, tour operators, destination management companies, and media influencers. In alignment with this, FoMP UK & Europe is presenting a proposal to the MP Tourism Board and the High Commission of India to celebrate Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day in the UK on November 1st.
