Madhya Pradesh has topped the list of States in constructing permanent houses for most vulnerable tribal groups under the Prime Minister’s Aadivasi JANMAN Mahabhiyan. Out of 113,433 sanctioned JANMAN houses in the state, 22,619 have been completed, placing Madhya Pradesh at the top in the country. Odisha follows with 1,620 houses, Chhattisgarh with 526, and Rajasthan with 87 houses. Shivpuri district has the highest number of houses numbering 4,443, followed by Umaria, Shahdol, Mandla, and Anuppur.
Shivpuri has achieved a significant milestone with India’s first Prime Minister JANMAN Colony.
Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Prahlad Patel inspected the country’s first PM JANMAN Colony in Hatod, Kota, and Dabia Gram Panchayats in Shivpuri. He congratulated Sahariya families on their new homes and interacted with them. Shri Patel extended greetings and best wishes on behalf Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. Shri Patel highlighted Shivpuri’s achievements and praised all officials involved. He encouraged families to focus on children’s education and to fight out social evils like alcoholism.

The PM JANMAN Colony in Hatod is named Shahid Tilkha Manjhi, while those in Dabia and Kota are named Shriram Bihar Colony and Johar Colony, respectively.
It may be noted that the first PM JANMAN houses and colonies have been completed in Shivpuri block, and high-quality homes have been provided to Sahariya families.
Shri Patel urged Sahariya families to focus on their children’s education and to fight against social evils and addiction. He also emphasized the importance of receiving amenities such as electricity, water, roads, and healthcare along with their new homes.
Shri Imrat is a resident of Hatod village and is living in the new house with his father Kanai, mother Hasmat, his wife and four-year-old daughter Mehak. Mehak goes to Anganwadi. Imrat, who lived in a mud hut since childhood, is now l happy to have a permanent house expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister. He says that it is a big thing having a pucca house .

Siya aged 30 years has started living in her new house. The village of Hatod is divided into two hamlets. One has about 210 people while another has around 220 persons . Siya works as a farm labourer and earns Rs 300 daily working in paddy fields. She has two children, Amit and Parmveer. Amit is in the second class and Parmveer goes to Anganwadi. The children are the happiest having their new house. Siya explains that the construction started in January. They initially received Rs 50,000 and then Rs 75,000 as the second and third installments. The houses are perfect in every respect. They have water, toilet, power supply and are neat and clean. They lived in a mud hut for years and never imagined having a good house. It was hard to live in mud house during monsoon. Now they believe their future life will be much better. She suggests that installing roof top solar panels would help save on electricity costs.

Sema Sahariya is very happy to have his new home with his five children. He says they have permanently come out miseries house. Frrquently he was repairing his shanty. Previously, they worried about their house while working as laborers. Now, the Prime Minister has helped us resolve our concerns. Dhanwanti, a 67-year-old tribal from the same village, says he never imagined owning a well -built house giving thanks to Prime Minister Modi on behalf of all his relatives.

In the Hatod Gram Panchayat, the PM JANMAN Colony is named as Shaheed Tilkha Manjhi Colony. It houses 75 people of 18 Sahariya families. In the Dabia Gram Panchayat, the PM JANMAN Colony is named Shri Ram Bihar Colony and houses 99 people of 28 Sahariya families. The Kota Gram Panchayat has the third PM JANMAN Colony named Johar Colony, where 90 people of 18 Sahariya families are residing.

Prime Minister Shri Modi gave the first installment for over a lakh PM JANMAN houses with a single click. Along with the colonies, facilities like roads, water, electricity, community buildings, and meeting places are being provided. The plan includes focusing on developing colonies in more such Panchayats like Hatod, Kota, Dabia, and also in Kankar, Chandanpura, Bura, Bhainsravan, and Pichhor. All families living in JANMAN Colonies are benefiting from various government schemes.

It is a record that the first PM JANMAN house in the country was constructed in Kalothra Gram Panchayat of Shivpuri Block for Bhaghchandra. The first 500 PM JANMAN houses in the country were also completed in Shivpuri Block, and now the first PM JANMAN Colony in the country has come up also in Shivpuri Block. The Sahariya beneficiaries now have very attractive and high-quality homes. The Sahariya families are among the most marginalized tribes, and this initiative has been extremely beneficial for them. On January 15, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi discussed with tribal women Vidya and Lalita from Shivpuri, who suggested developing the PM JANMAN houses into colonies.
