India To Witness Historic Event of Cheeta Relocation

The Tiger State Madhya Pradesh will now be called the Cheetah State of India. According to information available with MP Post, a consignment of 12 cheetahs from Namibia will arrive in Gwalior district on Independence Day and be released into Palpur Kuno National Park.
Palpur Kuno in Sheopur district was identified as ideal habitation for cheeta in 2009.
Chief Minister Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan played a major role in preparing it for the habitat of cheetahs and completing the legal formalities by taking strategic initiatives.
The Central Government extended full cooperation to the enthusiastic efforts of the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister took a major initiative and declared Kuno a National Park. It is located in Sheopur district of the state. It is spread over an area of about 900 square kilometres. In 1981, an area of 344.68 square kilometers was earmarked for this wildlife sanctuary. Later it was increased. Wolf, monkey, leopard and neel gai, spotted deer are found here.
Experts say that the initiative taken by Madhya Pradesh for conservation of the Asiatic Cheetah, which has become extinct in India, will yield good results.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh says that Madhya Pradesh is going to script a new chapter in history in wildlife management of the country and the world. The CM believes that this will be a historic event of settlement of cheetahs from one country to another. The environment lovers, wildlife experts from all the countries are enthusiast about the event. This will be an unprecedented occasion in the history of wildlife management and conservation of Madhya Pradesh. It will also be a proud moment for the citizens of Madhya Pradesh.
Ideal Eco Tourism

Madhya Pradesh will emerge as an ideal eco-tourism state. One reason for this is that Kuno-Palpur is merely 100 kms from Ranthambore National Park, which receives an average five lakh tourists every year. Due to arrival of cheetahs in Palpur Kuno, they will naturally visit Palpur Kuno. Officials responsible for the management of Kuna Palpur National Park said that all preparations have also been completed to welcome the cheetah on August 15.
