India has to present a sample of Digital Democracy- Former CEC O P Rawat
Bhopal, July 05, 2020. India needs to present a model of digital democracy in the world with an opportunity of 24 bypolls in Madhya Pradesh and Vidhan Sabha elections in Bihar. The South Korea presented an example during Corona Peak time when elections were held on April 15. This was observed by former Chief Election Commissioner of India, O.P. Rawat at first global Facebook Live Dialogue on the topic “Digital Democracy in India organized by the MPPost, dedicated to positive digital journalism.
India can also set an example of the Corona period as an opportunity to the world through digital democracy. By-elections are to be held in 24 assembly seats of Madhya Pradesh, while assembly elections are to be held in Bihar. In such a situation, the Election Commission can do unprecedented work in view of the upcoming elections, it will motivate everyone, common citizens, political parties and people. Regarding data manipulation and fake news, Rawat said that both these subjects are serious and the Election Commission is constantly improving it. He said that during the Corona transition we all have seen the role of digital processes well.
He said that in Digital Democracy, more and more fact checks will have to be placed to deal with fake news.
