The gifts presented to Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav are not personal property, but a heritage of the public. That is why both Prime Minister Shri Modi and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav are actively engaged in establishing a transparent system for the preservation, exhibition, and public welfare utilization of these mementos.
Details have been outlined regarding how the gifts and mementos presented to the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh are preserved.
On one hand, the 8th edition of the PM Mementos e – Auction – featuring unique gifts and artworks presented to the Prime Minister of India – has commenced and has been extended until October 31, 2026. This edition features 30 distinct memorabilia items representing various facets of Delhi. Open to the general public, this auction includes a wide array of artworks, religious items, handicrafts, and institutional souvenirs that serve as unique contributions as mementos. The proceeds raised from the auction will be donated to the Namami Gange Project.
Among these 30 mementos are nine photo frames, nine souvenirs, and six statues, crafts, and sculptures. The collection also includes two models of the Delhi Metro, a sports souvenir, a painting, and various art and craft items.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that, drawing inspiration from Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi Ji, a transparent process is also followed in the state to manage artworks, religious items, institutional souvenirs, and objects linked to public achievements received during public events, tours, and from various organizations. Gifts and mementos presented to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh are deposited into the Toshakhana (Treasury).
All valuable and culturally significant mementos received by the Chief Minister are officially recorded and safely deposited in the state government treasury.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav believes that this system ensures all gifts and mementos received in public life remain the heritage of the state rather than personal property.
Exquisite and rare artworks, religious symbols, and mementos showcasing the state’s cultural identity are displayed in the reception halls and auditoriums of the Chief Minister’s Residence (CM House), Samatva Bhawan, and the State Secretariat (Vallabh Bhawan) located in the state capital, Bhopal.
The objective is to showcase the art of Madhya Pradesh and the honors received nationally and internationally before visitors and dignitaries.
Following the model of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, provisions were also established under the former Chief Minister to conduct e-auctions and public auctions of mementos received by the Chief Minister for public welfare.
All funds generated from the auction process were utilized for the ‘Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund’ or public welfare schemes (such as assistance for underprivileged families, medical treatment support, and cattle conservation).
Furthermore, manuscripts, sculptures, and religious replicas of historical, archaeological, or exceptional artistic significance are handed over to the State Museum or cultural departments for preservation and public display.
